Processing steps of hawthorn
1、Firstly, wash and slice the hawthorn with a thickness of about 2 cm. It is best to use a slicer to complete it. This can effectively ensure that the thickness of the hawthorn is uniform, and it can also ensure the hawthorn could be heated evenly during the drying process, which is conducive to cyclic dehumidification.
2、For color protection treatment, in general, the hawthorn should be soak in 0.5% isovitamin C solution for 10-15 minutes to prevent the fruit pieces from discoloring. Afterwards, drain the water as soon as possible, and evenly put them into the material car layer by layer. Note that the thickness of the layer should not be too thick.
Hawthorn drying process
The drying process is controlled at 60°C-65°C. When the water content of hawthorn is about 15%, the temperature needs to be gradually lowered. This process takes about 12-15 hours. Hawthorn has a large water content. During the drying process, when the relative humidity is above 70%, it is necessary to increase ventilation and dehumidification strength, so it could make the hawthorn be dried evenly. After the hawthorn slices are cooled to room temperature, you can soften, grade, and package the dried hawthorn.
